Multi-Layered Meaning Representations

Gregor Williamson

Abstract

I compare two meaning representation languages (AMR and EDS) which differ in how closely they are tied to natural language surface forms. I discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each representation with specific attention to dialogue parsing. I then consider the possibility of using aspects of both forms of representations in a layered fashion. Finally, I discuss further layers of meaning which can be added to these graphs and will outline our ongoing efforts to do so.
